This article in Diabetes In Control discusses blood sugar in pregnant women and when to test for gestational diabetes and when to diagnose.

They say they know the mean fasting blood sugar for non-diabetic (I assume non-obese but who knows) is 79, then why do they wait to do anything until >105?  And why is that then not considered a normal target for everyone?

Para 5 - "<span>As in the HAPO study, fasting glucose levels were analyzed in seven categories: less than 75, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, 90-94, 95-99, and 100-105 mg/dL. At a median of 9.5 weeks gestation, the median fasting glucose level was 79 mg/dL." Good size study too - 6,129 women.</span>

And yet again, it confirms Dr. Bernstein's stated targets!  Whether people like it or not, every time they do a study like this they prove him right.
And why on earth do they wait to test for gestational diabetes until 3rd trimester.  How much damage are they doing to fetuses by not screening and not diagnosing and not treating?
