Splenda can be used in baking in place of sugar. But.....Splenda does have carbohydrates and calories. For 1 cup of Splenda = 43.2 grams of carbs and 192 calories. Using Splenda instead of sugar when baking you will find that the item will be a little drier and not as moist.

[font face="arial,helvetica,sans-serif" size="2"]I bought this HUGE bag of Splenda today at Costco. Apparently it can be used the same as sugar - spoonful by spoonful. I did post this on my Facebook page - and some people are telling me that it's not true - that is is highly sweet. Has anyone noticed the same thing?[br][br]The one thing that has me puzzled - the first ingredient that Splenda is derived from is corn! Something I try to avoid as it's high in carbs - but apparently Splenda has done some sort of chemical process to enable their product to be carb (aka no sugar) free.[br][br]I'm willing to be a test guinea pig - as a T1D of over 40 years now - I've tended to shy away from artificial sweetners - but being told by othe T1D / T2D diabetics that this is not artificial - that it is "safe" to use. Maybe you can teach an old "cat" new tricks - we shall see as I use it in baking and other things that I generally use sugar in.[/font][br][br]
