Is a new film by Jenny Mackenzie - following the "Mighty Cheetahs", a 3rd grade girls soccer team competing in the boys division.
I have only seen the brief clip (go to link below) but it looks like something I would like to watch. The spunkiness of 8 year old Lizzie, a juvenile diabetic who narrates this film (who isn't interested in applying lip gloss everyday - yuck) - is a very inspiring story to not only young juvenille diabetes - but for all of us. As Lizzie explains "We feel like superheroes, and we can conquer anything!"
This film just doesn't involve the soccer game - but also what occurs off field. It also shows how organised sports can help positively in the lives of our youths. I know for myself I loved playing soccer at grade school - still have scars on my shins to prove it after all these years. I just loved to prove the boys wrong that I wasn't a whozzy behind that ball that was flying by their heads into the net!!!! Gooooaaallllll!!!!!
Sorry, have to calm down here - and realise - I'm not 8 anymore <lol>.
DVD goes on sale May 28th - and will be shown on HBO in the United States only (not showing in Canada) on the same date -http://www.kicklikeagirlmovie.com/
