[br]Just in case some of you did not know the University of Virginia is doing patient trials of their version of the artificial pancreas. It is an external insulin pump unit that will monitor and regulate your blood glucose with little user input. You still wear an infusion set and a CGM sensor.[br][br]Inpatient trials have been going on at UVA and in Europe, and as well as outpatient trials in Italy and France in 2011, with good results. The first eight Type 1 patients that took part in the outpatient trial in Europe were able to maintain safe blood sugar levels while spending a night outside of a hospital.[br][br]If you live near the University (wish I did) they maybe still looking for patients to do trials on (they were supposed to start about 6 weeks after the release was made in March). Just click on their link to learn more - and the JDRF link will also tell you more about this ongoing project as well.[br][br]Also, if you aren't already overwhelmed with the info thrown at you at the links above - check out the forum posting that was made last year here at Diabetes1.org.[br][br]IMPORTANT UPDATE - this link will enable you to be put on the list for any information concerning ongoing and upcoming trials being conducted at the University of Virginia.[br][p=text-align: center;][/p]
