[p]19556- You are welcome. I knew very little about Type 1 Diabetes Trial. I read Kelly's blog, researched and figured I couldn't keep the information to myself. I know there are a lot of T-1's adults who don't know about the program. Personally, I would rather know than not to know if my kid has the antibodies. The sad thing is no matter how many tests you do, the antibodies still may not be detected. I sure pray my little girl doesn't develop diabetes but if she did get it, at least technology is getting better and better.[/p][p] Cherise[/p]

[p]Hi - Thanks for sharing Kelly's post & the Trial Net info. Periodically I have to get my 5 yr. old son screened too so this hit home personally. There is nothing that most parents wouldn't do for their kids, but sometimes when it comes to genetics you can feel a bit helpless... [/p]

[p]I am an advid diabetes blog reader. I came across a post titled "Trails and Tribulations" written by Kelly. Kelly has Type 1 diabetes and she gets her daughter tested once a year to see if her daughter test positive for the Antibodies that cause diabetes; her daughter has been tested once a year for the past 15 years. [/p][p]I've read about Trialnet on a few other blogs but Kelly's post stood out. I agree with her, it's better to be safe than sorry. I have a 4 year old daughter. I do not have a family history of Type 1 diabetes. Diabetes starts with me, as a mother I owe it to my daughter to have her tested at least once year. [/p][br]
<h3>What is Type 1 Diabetes TrialNet? (information from the Type 1 TrialNet site)</h3>
[p]Type 1 Diabetes TrialNet is an international network of researchers who are exploring ways to prevent, delay and reverse the progression of type 1 diabetes.[/p] [p]TrialNet was established in response to the Surgeon General's Report Healthy People 2010. This report identified diabetes as a national health objective for the Nation. In response to the report, Congress created the Diabetes Research Working Group (DRWG) to develop a plan for diabetes research. One recommendation of the DRWG was to conduct additional research studies (clinical trials) to prevent type 1 diabetes.[/p][br][p]Do you or someone in your family have Type 1 diabetes? If so you may want to "Get involved and Get Screened" someone in your family maybe at risk for developing Type 1 diabetes. Visit Type 1 Diabetes Trialnet. I don't know about you but I am. If I can help prevent, delay or reverse the progression of Type 1 diabetes by participating; why not?[/p]
