Okay, we made it to the expo, we set up the booth, my foot is killing me but we got things setup and done in time. We did some videos of very nice people who seem pretty enthusiastic about what we're trying to do here. I think the next step is to try to get some offline social activities going and put our best feet forward. This of course excludes MY foot until it heals. The camera was a good idea, and the Diabetes1 Idol idea is going to take off. Ask me about it if you're curious!

Going to CT for another diabetes expo. Very excited about the opportunity to do more pimping for this site. I haven't blogged in a while since I've switched insulin therapies and jobs and all sorts of other things. It's been probably more hectic than for most people, dealing with life things while dealing with diabetic things. I guess that's why I'm working with body1, because I would like to have a vibrant, community spirit around living with diabetes, and I think it would be really helpful.
I'll be starting my vlogging by interviewing folks in CT who come to our booth, so keep an eye out for that, and please, introduce yourself and drop me a line so maybe we can get some real dialogue started, between people who know what it's like by living it first hand.

Went to the Boston expo and met a lot of parents with kids who were recently diagnosed with type 1. I have been reading about the prevalence of type 2 in younger people but the since the majority of people I spoke to had kids with type 1, that makes me start thinking more about the genetic component of the disease. It also makes me think about what effect the environment might be having on these kids. All the foods today that are fortified with stuff and have tons of additives and preservatives – that has to be having some effect. I know I eat pretty well but should try to be more conscientious when it comes to that. It's definitely hard to limit artificial stuff in the food you eat.

Okay, I couldn't stay away. Something I noticed, and noticed just now, is the diversity of people walking around the expo. People I would never have guessed would have diabetes, know about this expo, or be looking for information. So that's an amazing experience for someone who knows very few other people with diabetes. There were white and black people, asian and hispanic folks, men and women, older and younger, and just an amazing smattering of all the folks who call Boston (and surrounding environs) home. Just thought I'd post that observation. If you're sick of seeing my posts, pretty please make some of your own, I look forward to getting to know you better. Last blog for today before I go home, check my sugar, take my insulin, and promptly pass out on my new down comforter for the rest of the weekend. There may be some vlogs in the works with interviews with local folks, so check back to see those. If you have videos related to living with Diabetes please feel free to contact us and maybe we can feature your video on the site. It's been a long day and someone is playing homemade drums right now. The last hour of anything is generally the hardest, and we're gamely trying to maintain our energy and passion. I think we've done an amazing job. Oh, the durms are Native Americans doing a dance/chant/ceremony which is terribly interesting. So...so long from the Expo.
