I read that dogs can help diabetics live longer. I have a border collie and he keeps me active with his ball crazy ways. Research has been conducted how calmer breeds help blood sugar levels stabilize. For instance, golden retrievers and border collies are hyper dogs, but lovable. The calmer breeds exist in our minds what type of dog is good for our health and well being. How I feel about my border collie is different than how another person feels about their toy poodle. In general, pets make people feel good and they are known to improve health no matter what the breed. I always feel better when I hug my parent's golden retreiver, Ranger then I go home to hug my border collie.'i advice people with diabetics adopt a fish, a turtle, a dog, or a cat and watch your blood sugar levels lower.

You are soooo right - pets can be a great support to their owners: both physical and mental. I can not imagine living without my german shephard who always feels when I am sick or in a bad mood.
