My motto in life? Diabetes does not control me – I control it!! I got my first gray hair in high school. XD
I'm interested in the idea that something about diabetes maintenance, or even type1 diabetes itself, makes people appear to age slower. I tried looking it up, but I'm not finding much. The closest things Google has given me are this: "2. Low-insulin Nutrition I follow one plan: My own Every Other Day Diet System. Specifically the "Extreme Plan" found within the book. Look 10 Years Younger <--- Low-Insulin Nutrition Plan This plan retrains your body on how to utilize insulin, the most powerful hormone in the body, in the proper way. Used improperly, insulin ages you and ends up killing you well before your time. Used properly, it can boost your muscle mass, decrease your bodyfat, and add a kick to your energy levels. Plus it slows the aging process to have normal insulin levels. Most people do not due to a high-carb diet all the time. Know when to eat carbs and you can manage your insulin." (from http://www.mens-total-fitness.com/look-and-feel-10-years-younger.html) And this: http://insulin-growth-factor.com/insuling-like-growth-factor.html That second one kind of frightens me though. I'm not sure what that's all about. Just scanning google, there does seem to be some kind of correlation, but I'm not quite sure what it is. We should sic the scientists on it. ![]() Source: http://xkcd.com youth (1) Omnipod (1) insulin (1) Animas 2020 (1) Related posts:Edmonton man denied insulin for 20 hours | She’s got legs and she knows how to use them (the semi-Fashionista and her pump)! | Shame on Johnson & Johnson / Animas | REMOVAL – clinical trial for T1D's in UK, Australia, Canada, Denmark and Netherlands | My Porky Pig fingers are tired | Smooth sailing with CATSCA / TSA | Questioned by my pharmacist on my insulin regime | A birthday treat gone evil ... | Stainless steel infusion sets are more FOREIGN then a teflon one?
