The Roller Coaster Ride of Diabetes! Whoo! Whoo!

I am a Type 1 diabetic diagnosed back in the early 60's as a child.  I am living in Montreal, Canada and enjoy scribbling about diabetes from time to time. I’ve had my ups / downs just like any person would experience with going through life - diabetic or not.  My motto in life?  Diabetes does not control me – I control it!!

You can find more posts/discussions at my Facebook page called "The Roller Coaster Ride of Diabetes" and also on Twitter under the name of FatCatAnna.  Feel free to follow me at both places or send me a private message!

  • 2nd Annual Diabetes Art Day - September 1st

Well, it's not too late to participate folks.  I'd posted about last years event that Lee Ann Thill who blogs at The Butter Compartment had started.  I don't think I'd done any artzy fartzy stuff since I was working in Daycare - so this was a fun experience to be part of - especially with other diabetics participating and putting their message out for diabetes awareness.

So, again, I managed to do a last minute project after not knowing if we could make it back to Montreal from washed out New York state (thank you tropical storm Irene - glad we weren't out sailing).  I just posted my piece of "art" at this
link.  You can too - it's not to late - and if participation is as good as it was last year - it'll be held again in 2012.  Many thanks Lee Ann for making this happen!!!

Here's my entry below - as usual - I used all sorts of different mediums that I had on hand from my days of working with kids at school.

LOL AmariT - if you knew me on Facebook - my "cute" picture is better seen then it is here on Diabetes1.org due to my inability to load up larger jpegs.  So look for me on Facebook if you want to see it up close.

BTW, if you checked what other people have put up for the Diabetes Art Day in my link above - yours might actually go well - especially with the blood etc. (hey - testing blood sugars, having gushers when we pull out a needle, etc. etc.).  Don't be shy - post it!

Psst, I'm a wanna be Grandma Moses / Salvador Dali :)

That's so much fun! I suppose the art has to be in some way related to Diabetes and I can't just upload a picture I drew of zombies.

Your art really is ridiculously cute, though. I love all the colors.
