Hey Kelly - the Ninja burgers were from George Simmons - aka Ninjabetic (I posted the recipe link in my blog a few days ago as part of the D-Feast Friday). I cooked those up Saturday night when came home from the Faire for my American friends we were staying with. Now, wouldn't that be something else though - to have the Ninja burgers sold at the Faire?
![]() Glad to hear that the pump is working out for you! Like you say, everyone has different taste in their control of their diabetes. Some find better control with pump, some don't, I hear from all types of people with different stories of what works for them. Whatever keeps you in control is the best thing, and I'm glad I've had the opportunity to try out the pump, and I'll try out other methods that may come along - you know me - the human guinea pig - squeak, squeak! Anna, I am glad that you enjoyed your trip, but I have one question for you - what kind of Renaissance Faire did you go to that had Ninja burgers? I used to go to the one in PA at Mount Hope Estate & Winery - the wine tasting was always the best part! As you know, I just recently started pumping so I am still learning. I did really good on MDI but I want to do better. It took me a long time to come over to the dark side (as some people used to refer to pumping!) and I would never push anyone that was not ready. I also think that we all need to weigh the pros and cons and decide what is good for us and not what is good for someone else. Like you, I think the basal side is a huge plus for me. I only got 7 hours out of Levemir so I took it 3 times a day and supplemented with fast acting when it was starting to fizzle out. I had alarms set for 11 PM and 7 AM. I have DP so my Dex would wake me at 5 AM when my BS started to go up. Now I can have my pump change my basal rate automatically to kick in before DP does. I can actually sleep more than 6 hours without something screaming at me to take insulin. I have also learned to love that temp basal feature! It is nice being able to cut back on your basal or pump it up when you need it. That is the best thing since the invention of cheesecake!
