Diabetes1.org is one of the sponsers of Desert Dingo. Hot off the press (okay Twitter) are some pics of 1107 with a few scrunches in the metal (some of this can be buffed out they say - but I'm not quite sure - since I have some sheet metal experience from working on aircraft).
Currently 1107 - the 41 year old Volks bug is in Prairie City, which is just outside Sacramento for the season opener weekend. Sunday they'll be heading out, along with rebuilt engine (thanks Bob and the team) so things are looking good!
Luckily, no one was injured, not even the Diabetes1.org logo (see second picture).
A bit of buffing to be done here
Below the 1107 in the picture above you maybe able to make out the Diabetes1.org logo (to see larger viewing go to this link
Sheel metal experts at work to yank out the left hand side of the car.

Also, at the blog site, read up about Emily Miller and Wendy Fisher (in 109) who are representing the U.S. at the Rally Eaicha des Gazelles (”Gazelles” for short) in Morocco. This race has been going on for the past 20 years with only women drivers! Oh, to be part of the team would be a dream come true!
