The Roller Coaster Ride of Diabetes! Whoo! Whoo!

I am a Type 1 diabetic diagnosed back in the early 60's as a child.  I am living in Montreal, Canada and enjoy scribbling about diabetes from time to time. I’ve had my ups / downs just like any person would experience with going through life - diabetic or not.  My motto in life?  Diabetes does not control me – I control it!!

You can find more posts/discussions at my Facebook page called "The Roller Coaster Ride of Diabetes" and also on Twitter under the name of FatCatAnna.  Feel free to follow me at both places or send me a private message!

  • SAE it LOUD Day!
Well, today has started off with a bang for me with Diabetes Awareness Month and hopefully all of you who are participating in this online event all over the world are feeling as excited as many of us are!  Remember, you can blog, Facebook, Tweet (with hashtag of #saed).  Spread the word around!!!  If you want to learn more on how to participate - check out Sarah's aka Sugabetic blog to get involved or do your own thing! Whatever works for you.

What am I going to be doing this month?  I sometimes think too many things, but it's all for a good cause!!!

I'm being asked again to help with the CDA West Island branch in Montreal that I was President/Vice President/PR/you name it fill in this blank for a brief time.  I shouldn't say "asked" - as I had emailed the current President Robert Blackie as to "what's up?".  Sadly, things aren't going well for him.  So, I've offered again to give them a hand, but not sure if I want to take on as much responsibility as before.  We really need volunteers, in order to make this work, so that we can carry on the mission of Support, Advocating, and Educate Diabetes Awareness - e.g SAE it LOUD!!!

Also, this weekend I'm participating again in the 2nd World Diabetic KIDZ Weekend that Mark-John Clifford of 1 Disease! World! Voice! holds.  It starts November 5th (Friday) at 6:00 PST / 9:00 EST and goes on until Sunday, November 7th.  I posted about this great event in the forum  last year - and managed to participate and it was such a blast.  To find out more just go the 1 Disease!World!Voice! to learn how to get involved.  If you are having difficulties viewing it here on Diabetes1.org - just cut/paste the link that is shown in the picture below into a separate window.
