The Roller Coaster Ride of Diabetes! Whoo! Whoo!

I am a Type 1 diabetic diagnosed back in the early 60's as a child.  I am living in Montreal, Canada and enjoy scribbling about diabetes from time to time. I’ve had my ups / downs just like any person would experience with going through life - diabetic or not.  My motto in life?  Diabetes does not control me – I control it!!

You can find more posts/discussions at my Facebook page called "The Roller Coaster Ride of Diabetes" and also on Twitter under the name of FatCatAnna.  Feel free to follow me at both places or send me a private message!

  • Tweeting my morning to the D-OC (or just a pretend version)

The following is how I would Tweet my activities on Twitter in 140 words or less IF I possessed a BlueTooth or some other fancy gadget that many folks who are on Twitter 24/7 must use (do they Twitter from the loo I wonder?).

08:15 Alarm went off-overcast day-ready for appointment for wibble wobble with dermo #diabetes

08:25 Realise after taking crap/feeding cats-appointment with dermo is @09h00 NOT 10h00.Moving my buttocks.Oh double crap!

08:35 No time to have breakie/test #bgnow(bad, bad, bad)-heading off-not big lover of AM traffic BS

08:40 Oh heck.Where is this place?Foreign territory of Montreal.Wow.Can drive while Tweeting.Cool .. NOT REALLY

08:55 Just presented health card.Love #Quebec Medicare.Sitting in exam room.Waiting for dermo GP.Lots of stuff to read on skin

    08:59 #bgnow #bgwed 9.3 mmol/l or 167 mg/dl. New basal rate sucks.Swore I was low.Nerves at seeing white coat I think?

09:03 Wonder if they’ll notice sample of SPF70 cream, etc. missing They are there for the taking-right?Educating self on moles

09:07 Dermo dude is cute & young.Used to old dudes prodding me.Nice change of pace for me.I hate seeing doctors

09:15 Weeble wobble in left ear is ok.It can be cosmetically removed if I want. It’s part of me just like #diabetes is :)

09:20 Talk about dry skin.Very prominent with #diabetes.Gives me some good advise for winter time.

09:21 Dermo thinks it’s neat what I do within D-OC – he says “hi” to everyone on Tweeter about #diabetes, etc.

09:30 Dermo confirms I have rosacea(he does 2).Mine is mild.He can lazer it in Jan if I want.No thx like my glow :)

10:00 Now at fav Jewish bakery-picking up cheese bagels w/REAL sugar sprinkles(they tried to sell me fake stuff-no way)

10:20 Just went thru’ fancy health food store-don’t have any @VitaCoco-say USA has bought up all supplies-none in Canada now-frak!

10:28 Trying to find ingredients for @Sugabetic chicken pot pie at Loblaws-no heart healthy Bisquick in Canada :( #dfeast

10:55 Stuck at traffic light.Starting to rain.Waving at another #Smart driver. They didn’t see my idiotic grin

11:08 At pharmacy 2 get NovoRapid / #bgnow test strips.Told prescriptions needs renewal-they will let me have drugs for now until I see endo :S

11:15 Pharm assistant who has #diabetes tells me where to find endo w/pump experience-in French part of town-sigh-would need translator-sigh

    11:31 #bgnow #bgwed 5.1 mmol/l | 92 – double espresso & cheese bagel-time to relax-then start work on new #diabetes #dblog

11:33 RT @DiabetesSocMed: Today is one of my favorite days of the week(diabetes social media advocacy) #DSMA Wednesday 9pm EST

PLEASE NOTE: Some readers actually think I tweeted all of this - I DID NOT - I just decided to write my blog in a different format today (artistic form?).  Though all of what I "tweeted" did occur except for the doctor saying hi - that was a joke.  Also, I do not own a Bluetooth, IPhone, cell phone.  End of story.

Wow, I can't believe you don't at least have a cell phone!  I am having a hard time getting into Twitter - maybe if I get a Bluetooth, I would get the hang of it.  That one was my joke!

This is just too funny! I do have an iPhone which I tweet from using 3G network. But many days I'm too busy working so I only really tweet on my way to and from work or in breaks at work. In the weekends I have more time for twitter but sometimes I'm pretty quiet in there anyways^^
