Thanks for that Andre77 ... though in this area where you've posted "Type 1 Diabetes" - we already know we've got diabetes (50+ years for me).

DiabetesUK has a pretty good description of blood sugar ranges ... along with some other tests for blood sugar control .... http://www.diabetes.co.uk/diabetes_care/blood-sugar-level-ranges.html

Do you have diabetes too?  Are you using a pump or CGMS?

The blood sugar levels that you should aim for are the following:

Blood sugar levels chart for non-diabetics (goal blood sugar levels)Glucose mg/dL or mmol/L

  • Value less than 110 mg/dL or 6 mmol/L on an empty stomach is normal value
  • between 110 mg/dL or 6.1 mmol/L and 125 mg/dL or 6.9 mmol/L on an empty stomachis a limit value
  • more than 125 mg/dL or 7.0 mmol/L on an empty stomach means possible diabetes
  • more than 198 mg/dL or 11.0 mmol/L anytimepossible diabetes

Here's a reference blood sugar chart indicating normal blood sugar levels.

Need to determine one’s target blood sugar (e.g. “120” fasting in the am)Important to determine one’s insulin “sensitivity ratio”. (i.e. how many “mg/dl’s” one unitof insulin will lower). For instance, I may be able to lower a 180mg/dl blood sugar to 120 mg with just 1 unit of humalog insulin. Knowing this ratio will give me a formula for correcting blood sugars. For every diabetic, this ratio will be different.
