I have tried a lot of glucometers yet this one is the first that can speak your results aloud. When you turn the meter on, it says "Thank you for using Advocate products"....."The room temperature is ...." (Not sure why this is particularly relevant to testing blood glucose for that matter). Then it tells the user, "please apply blood to the strip." After applying only a small amt. of blood (very tiny speck) the meter counts down then gives you a digital read-out and also speaks (e.g. "Your blood glucose is One hundred and five"). It stores up to 450 results and with USB cable will download them to desktop software which you can download off the company's website. The meter can be programed to speak results in English or Spanish.

First off....the meter has a somewhat confusing set-up system. When you start it up (by first inserting a strip), it begins by saying "Thank you for using Advocate products" , then tells you the room temperature (not sure why this is needed, or relevant). Then it says to apply blood to the strip, announces the blood glucose reading and says whether it is "out of range". The meter then turns off simply by removing the strip. All in all, a simple blood glucose testing mechanism. It is programmable in Spanish as well and can store up to 450 results. One problem is that if you insert a "faulty" strip, it flashes an error message, yet does not speak what the error is - the meter simply shuts off. You can download data to the Advocate's software which you can get off their website. The necessary Interface does not come with the meter - you have to contact the company and have them send it to you (a pain). It runs only on PC, so sorry for you Mac users (unless you have Parallels Desktop and can run Windows on your Mac). All in all, a good attempt, but the meter falls short. Set-up is needlessly confusing, and unclear. The talking feature is nice, but it does not make this a great meter either.
