The continuous glucose monitoring system comes in three layers of protection with three different warnings. It is recommended for patients aged seven years and above with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes. There is a model for patients aged seven to seventeen and for those aged eighteen or older. These mainly comprise predictive alerts, rate of change alerts and low and high alerts. The minimed guardian has proven useful in preventing oncoming lows and highs and in providing consistent glucose level reports. It is particularly good for those prone to lows and highs, who have problems detecting hypoglycemia, experience gestational and are pregnant. The glucose sensor is easy to insert whilst the monitor is small and comfortable. Overall, the minimed guardian is a step ahead as it easily identifies any underlying problems fingersticks might overlook.

This was my first continuous blood sugar monitor and I thought it was great when I had it, but I changed insurance and had to go with another machine to get the probes my new insurance would pay for. Anyway this machine has all the bells and whistles. It will warn you BEFORE you reach a critical blood sugar range and takes a reading every five minutes. The probes can be worn for one week and they deliver the blood sugar info which you should be withing five feet of. You hardly notice you have it on and it can be worn in the shower, pool, or while you're asleep with no difficulty at all. Overall this is a very nice system that I wuold recommend to anyone.
