I can vouch for the 1/2 unit pens Doris! Because I don't take very much insulin - being able to give 1/2 unit of insulin can be a big advantage for those of us using small increments of insulin - either to bolus for a meal - or to do a correction bolus. Originally these 1/2 unit pen needles we're brought onto the market for children - who require smaller amounts of insulin - but more of us adults are discovering how handy dandy they are (and the one I have is in a BRIGHT lime green colour with polka dots)! I have to admit - I prefer using the pen needle over syringes - more so for ease of use and portability.

Eli Lilly is offering a "free" voucher for either their Memoir or Luxura HD pen. The Luxura is the 1/2 unit pen.Interesting enough, I found it on the professional website, not the patient site. Hmmm.Anyway, thought it might be helpful especially for those without insurance who would like to try a pen instead of syringes (my preferred method).http://penvoucher.humalog.com/combined.cfmThe phone number is 1-800-545-5979 (Monday through Friday, 8-5 Eastern Time).
