Watch this video about One Drop to learn about a new way of testing your blood and basically managing your diabetes through this app. Jeff Dachis, was diagnosed with Type 1 (LADA) 18 months ago and decided he wanted something better!
I'm wondering what the cost will be for this data-driven platform. In the video link, he implies that if you have insurance .... it's FREE!!! If you do not have insurance, then the monthly payment will be less than your current co-pay. So, I think at the moment, it's more of an American based device (for Canadians - we'll have to wait and see if Health Canada approves it). If it's anything like the Dexcom CGMS I use out of pocket as a Canadian, devices like this just don't seem to be allowed by many of our group insurances from the work place, but you never know, if we advocate, maybe they will allow it via insurance.
He is reminding me of Steve Jobs with his video and the way his mind thinks. Cool. I like the way you can get the COMPLETE picture of what is going on with your diabetes with this app (I was too excited to see if the platform will be for anything else but Apple).
Meanwhile, I've signed up for info on it, as well as Twitter. This has perked my interest somewhat! Okay, it's perked it up ALOT!!!
What do you think with the limited info available?
Now using a nifty CGMS along with an insulin pump!!!
