Trigger Finger

Clinical Overview

Another common, uncomfortable and disruptive complication of long-term diabetes is trigger finger. In non-technical terms, one or more fingers get “stuck” and do not move fluidly. The finger or fingers can “stick” in either a bent or straight position, thus, limiting gripping abilities.

In more technical terms, trigger finger occurs when the motion of the tendon that opens and closes the finger is limited, causing the finger to lock or catch as it is extended.
